The fertiliser can be applied in its dry form, no need to dilute before hand.
It is advisable that your fertiliser is sprinkled sparingly to your soil before turfing, to ensure the nutrients can be fed through the roots of the turf base.
When applying the granular fertiliser you need to gauge an approximate square meter either by pacing it out or cutting a thin slice to a metre squared.
Each 5kg pack contains 125sqm coverage, therefore a fifth of the bag will cover 25sqm.
1 sqm requires 60g of grains.
One coverage should last for 4 months.Learn More
Fine, friable soil is perfect for any type of gardening or landscaping. Soil types vary according to your geographical location.
What is Screened Topsoil?
The procedure used to screen topsoil is somewhat similar to sifting flour before baking. The soil is run through a screen to break up lumps and to catch any debris, even smaller particles of stone; the resulting friable soil allows plants to breathe and take deep root. Greenvale’s Screened Topsoil is a fertile, sandy loam that is very fine, having been screened down to 10mm. It is peat free, with a PH value of approximately 7.6, so it is suitable for most plants.
While peat was once widely used as a soil amendment by gardeners and farmers, it has several drawbacks. Peat is acidic, making it unsuitable for plants that cannot tolerate acidic conditions. While peat helps to hold soil moisture, it is not ideal for drainage and it is relatively low in nutrients. Peat-free top soil is a more versatile, environmentally friendly option for today’s gardeners.
Uses of Screened Topsoi
Screened Topsoil can be used in most garden applications. It is excellent for ornamental flower beds and for vegetable gardens. It is wonderful for fruit and shade trees and it is perfect for container gardening as well.
Screened Topsoil can be used as a turf base. This fine textured soil is excellent to spread in place before installing turf. Grasses of all types are able to grow and develop a strong root system in this friable soil.
Although it is billed as a topsoil, screened topsoil can be mixed with your existing soil to help increase its friability. Because Greenvale’s Screened Topsoil is peat-free it is safe for plants that do not like acidic conditions.
Greenvale’s Screened Topsoil is available in large bags (25KG), Tonne bags, or in bulk.
One tonne will prepare a 30 square metre area to a depth of 1 inch. This is ideal for many turfing projects. A depth of 1 inch is also appropriate if you existing soil is relatively good. If your existing soil is hard and compacted, a depth of 3 to 4 inches or more is recommended for most plants. Six inches or more is best for rose bushes. By using convenient Screened Topsoil you can have a garden you’ll be proud of.
