The Wembley pitch prepares for a busy month aheadPrice on Request
When it comes to turf, few places are more hallowed, or more used, than the famous pitch at Wembley. And for the national stadium, May is an exceptionally busy period, as the Wembley turf plays host to a raft of major football finals across all the divisions.
Already host to the FA Cup Final, which saw Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 in a highly committed game, Wembley will next be the setting for the FA Carling Trophy and FA Carling Vase finals, the tournaments for semi professional teams from the lower leagues of English football. From then, the stadium will work its way through the major divisions, with the Championship playoff, for that lucrative place in the Premier League, followed by play off finals from leagues one and two and the Blue Square Conference promotion final, with its chance to join the football league proper.
At the end of it all, the pitch still has to be in a fit state to host England vs Belgium in the national team’s last warm up game before Euro 2012 and then the Olympic football games in late July and early August. Let’s hope that the Wembley ground staff have turf suppliers that are as good as Greenvale Turf!
