Black ice gravel is a premium decorative gravel made from a blend of pale crystal white dolomitic limestone and dark 20mm black basalt. The result is a bold monochrome gravel with a clean, architectural look, combining white, cream and pale grey stones with deep charcoal and black tones. This makes it particularly effective in modern garden schemes where contrast, structure and visual definition are required. The angular stones interlock more readily than rounded pebbles, helping to create a firm and practical surface for garden paths, seating areas, courtyard spaces and decorative driveways with light vehicle use. Black ice gravel can also be used to frame planted beds, define edges, cover open ground or provide a sharp contrast against paving, brickwork, timber and rendered walls. When wet, the darker basalt becomes richer in colour while the white limestone brightens, giving the blend a more dramatic appearance.
Because this product contains dolomitic limestone, it is not recommended for use in fish ponds, as it may affect the water pH level. It should only be used as a plant topping where a slightly alkaline material is suitable.
Black ice gravel is a natural mixed aggregate, so some variation in colour balance, stone shape and size should be expected. The black gravel will have a grey appearance when dry, darkening significantly when wet.
